The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday rolled out the “Chief Minister’s Thiyumanwar Yojana” to distribute ration items at the door of more than 21 lakh beneficiaries, one initiative by Semi MK Stalin described close to his heart as it would benefit senior citizens over 70 years of age and differently affected people.
Stalin flagged off the rollouts of the scheme, giving the green signal to the vehicles for this purpose and visited some beneficiaries’ homes and handed them over to essential commodities.
The scheme was prepared keeping in mind the difficulties faced by the said group of ration card holders to reach fair price shops and additional expenses. He said that the government had a “life saving responsibility” towards 30.16 crore people in the rollout.
He said, “So much idea goes into the creation of every plan and the Thiyumanwar scheme is close to my heart. It was launched by the cooperative department, it includes ration items at the doorstep of the elderly and separate arbitrary. I am happy to inaugurate it,” he said in a social media video statement.
To apply in 34,809 fair price shops in Tamil Nadu, it will benefit 21,70,454 persons, most of them are elderly.
Tamil Nadu was a ‘pioneer’ in the delivery initiative of such a door. The government does not stop with the announcement of only one plan, but if the last intended person benefits from it, it monitors.
“We don’t see The plan includes Rs 30.16 crore as additional expenses, but as a life -saving responsibility towards people. This is a major service by the cooperative department, “he said.
He said that there are a total of 37,328 fair price shops in Tamil Nadu, out of which 2,394 DMKs are being added in four years of the government.
“Because we run these shops efficiently and properly, Tamil Nadu is free from being free from starvation today. We are trying to simplify the use of these ration shops,” Stalin said.
Meanwhile, an official release stated that as part of the initiative, ration items will be distributed to the doors to beneficiaries every other Saturday and Sunday. Relevant details have already been received from the Department of Food and Consumer Protection and shared with the respective field staff.
Employees will distribute the items to the eligible beneficiaries. They will be provided as part of the initiative with an electronic waiting machine and E-POS (Point of Sale) machine.
About 20.42 lakh senior citizens and more than 1.27 lakh separate -diverted persons will benefit from this scheme.
The ruling DMK has already rolled out a similar door delivery, including the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (MTM) scheme in the health sector, where the government provides home-based health care services that include screening for adults for diabetes and breast cancer.
