General Michael “Eric” Kurila, a military officer, who oversees the execution of the Iran strike in June, has retired from military service and has handed over the reins after three years of American soldiers in the Middle East.
Kurilla, a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, became the commander of the US Central Command (CentCom) in 2022, and according to the command, oversee the plan and execution of at least 15 major joint combat operations.
Among them, two led the command during their last months: Operation Rough Rider targeted Hauthis in Yemen in March and April, and the striking midnight hammer on Iran nuclear sites in June.

During that time, Kurila completed tourism in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Kurila is known for his involvement in a Mosul, Iraq, Fire in August 2005, where he maintained several gunshot wounds. The encounter made him a bronze star with Velor and one of his two Purple Heart Awards.

The notable figures who previously led the Saintcom include former Defense Secretary, retired General Jim Mattis, who served during Trump’s first term, and retired General Lloyd Austin, who served during the administration of Biden, former President Joe Biden.
In early August, US Navy Adam. Brad Cooper is now one of the 11 fighter commands of the US Army, which is in its territory of operating with 21 nations in the Middle East – including Iraq and Afghanistan.
Like Kurila, Cooper is no stranger for the Middle East. The previous assignment includes serving as the Deputy Commander of St.com and overseeing the Central Command of the US Navy forces in the Middle East, where he fulfilled efforts to appoint unmanned service ships into a fleet.

Cooper officially took the command ceremony in Tampa, Florida on 8 August, where the CentCom Headquarters is located. The retirement ceremony of Kurila took place on the same day, which was confirmed by a Tentcom spokesperson Fox News Digital.
Cooper said in the Navy’s statement, “The US Central Command and the entire joint force have exceptionally well performed under the leadership of General Kurila, helping to increase partnerships, helping to increase the incompatibility of American forces and protect Americans and citizens.” “I am deeply grateful to the opportunity to lead America’s sons and daughters as we support the important missions to increase regional security and stability in the central command area.”
