A labor MP says that he will take a break from Parliament due to illness.
Michael Payne, who represents Gedling at Nottinghamshire, said he would be unable to participate in the upcoming parliamentary votes in a statement released on Wednesday.
He said that he was under “ongoing medical treatment” and “strict instructions to rest by medical professionals”, but did not go into further detail about the disease.
The MP said that his constituency remained open and his staff kept supporting the residents.
Payne selected in 2024 said: “It is incredibly disappointing for me.
“I care deeply about representing my community and being present for important debate and decisions in Westminster.
“To be unable to participate completely in this work is not something I take lightly, and it is difficult to stay away at a time when so much is happening at the national level.”
