New Delhi: Jagdeep Dhik’s sudden resignation from the post of Vice President has triggered an unexpected wave of praise to opposition MPs, many of whom had earlier clashed with him over the alleged bias. Many leaders who once accused Dhankhar of prejudice or filed a no -confidence momentum against them are now urging them to reconsider their decision, they deserve a dignified farewell as “Kisanputra” (son of a farmer).Among them, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikrajun Kharge, who often accused Dhankhar not to allow him to speak in the House. Kharge repeatedly claimed that the chair violated the tradition by refusing the floor during the important debate.Congress chief whip Jayer Ramesh, who once said that Dhankhar treated as a “cheerleider for the government” instead of a neutral umpire, was a matter of privilege notices pending for alleged insults on the chair. Ramesh led the opposition’s no -confidence motion against Dhankhar, accusing him of organizing house proceedings in a “highly biased” manner. However, after rehabilitation, Ramesh took a different tone. In a post on X, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should persuade Dhankhar to withdraw his resignation, called it “in the interest of the nation”.“Kisanputra is also being denied a dignified farewell,” Ramesh wrote, describing Dhankhar’s resignation as “fully unpredictable” and guessing whether his active role in processing the speed of two impeachment a day earlier a day earlier played a role. Ramesh said, “He was a good jolly while presiding yesterday.”He also claimed that the resignation reflects more on those who raised Dhankhar in the role of Vice President than that person.Another senior advocate and former Union Minister Kapil Sibal was first reprimanded by Dhankhar on his comments on the rape and murder case in Kolkata and not to participate in the house proceedings regularly. Despite those clashes, Sibal praised Dhankhar after his resignation, called him “nationalist and patriotism”, and said that he would not be ill. Sibal commented, “She used to speak her mind and never had a gruz.”The Trinmool Congress’s Derek O’Brien, who had many conflicts with Dhankhar, was once told in the House, “Your conduct is ugly. I will show you the door next time.” He was also accused of indulging in theaterics during the debate and was suspended during the 2023 winter session for “misconduct”.Other TMC leaders – Sagarika Ghosh, Saket Gokhale, and Kalyan Banerjee – also copied Dhankhar during a protest, which led to a rebuke from the chair. Both AAP MPs Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh were suspended from home during Dhankhar’s tenure, also fought with him. The session of Dhankhar along with actor-royalty Jaya Bachchan was also controversial-Bachan once demanded an apology, which he called “disrespect towards women MPs”.Senior Congress lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi also attracted the Iri of Dhankhar after a bundle of 500 notes near his seat, causing sharp words from the chair.Despite all this, in view of the resignation of Dhankhar, the tone of the opposition rank has been dramatically transferred, now it has been suggested with many leaders that a difference in parliamentary functioning has been left in their departure – and expressing concern that their exit cannot be as voluntary as it seems.(With PTI input)
