Former NBA guard Ben McLemore was found guilty of rape by an Oregon jury on Thursday.
In the Clackmas County, the jury found a 32-year-old East-Portland Trail Blazers player McLemore, who was guilty of raping a woman in 2021 after a 11-day test.
McLemore, who requested not to be guilty for all cases, was found guilty of first-degree rape, first-degree is a charge of illegal sexual penetration and second-degree count of sexual abuse.

The jury also found him guilty of additional counting of sexual abuse of another degree.
“We believe that there are people who are afraid of people with celebrity conditions or may avoid prosecution. Not in Clackmas County,” District Attorney John Ventaworth, District Attorney of Clacmas County said in a statement. According to ESPN,
“This case shows my office that criminal acts prosecutes regardless of the criminal’s community position.”

The incident occurred in October 2021 at Lake Oosgo, Oregon, when McLemore was identified as a suspect by officials following a woman’s complaint.
In February 2024, a Clackmas County Grand Jury heard the evidence in the case, including the woman’s testimony, including McLemore assaulted her. McLemore was arrested by US Marshall two months later.

During the trial, Scott Heli, a Clackmas County Prosecutor, told the jury that the woman went out on a living room sofa around 2 pm after drinking heavily. He received partial consciousness the next morning, when McLemore entered her sexually with her fingers and then proceeded to have sex with her.
McLemore’s team of lawyers disputed claims, saying that they started sexual contact and agreed to it. The lawyers also claimed that the female was sufficient to agree to sexual contact.
A Kansas product McLemore played nine seasons in NBA, five, with Sacramento Kings, who finished seventh in the 2013 NBA draft.

He bounced around the league to the end, playing for Portland Trail Blazers during the Memphis Grizzleez, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Laks and finally, Portland Trail Blazers during the 2021–22 season.
