Former FBI and CIA Director William H. Webster died at the age of 101, his family announced on Friday.
Webster led the FBI from 1978 to 1987 and the CIA from 1987 to 1991, leading to the country’s top law enforcement agency and its main intelligence agency.
His family said in a statement, “We are proud of the extraordinary man in our lives who spent a lifetime fighting to protect their country and his law.”
Prior to the leading agencies of his time in Washington, he served as a federal prosecutor and later spent nearly eight years as a federal judge. He also served in the US Navy during World War II and Korean War.

Former President Jimmy Carter, as the head of the FBI, exploited the webuster by a Republican, a Republican, as the agency attempted to promote a reputation by revealing domestic spy, internal corruption and other abuses of power.

In 2002, the Securities and Exchange Commission chose the webster to lead a board created by the Congress to oversee the accounting profession in response to the scams associated with Enron and other corporations.
The FBI said that after his passing, he sends his prayer and condolences to the webster’s family after learning.
The agency said in a statement, “He was a dedicated public servant who spent more than 60 years in the service of our country, including a federal judge in the US Navy, director of CIA, and his term as our director from 1978–1987.” “We are grateful to his life and heritage and during this time wish his family, friends and colleagues for peace and comfort.”
Former FBI director Christopher Ray, who left the agency earlier this year, stated that he was “deeply unhappy” from the webster’s death.

Ray said in a statement, “My heart leaves for my family at this time of loss.
Webster his second wife, Linda Clugsteon webster, and her first marriage survives three children and her husband, seven grandchildren and husband or wife and 12 great -grandfather. His first wife, Drusila Lane, died in the 1980s.
