Attorney General James Uthmeyer of Florida said that leaders in the state’s southern municipality have faced possible removal from the office if they fail to restore a compromise with the US immigration and customs enforcement (ICE).
On Tuesday, the West City Commissioners voted 5–1 to zero an agreement, for which its police department needs to partner with ICE.
The federal program known as 287 (G) allows local authorities to perform some federal immigration enforcement operations, including the authorities to suspect the immigration law to violate the people who are questioned, arrest and permission to get into custody.
