A Florida city mayor where a viral video was recorded, an officer was shown punching a male driver on the face during a traffic stop, described as harassing the incident and called for a proper procedure to run its course.
Jacksonville Mayor Donna Degan said that she understands the frustration of the public and insisting that she is taking a practical approach to it.
“I understand Angast,” Degan told the local news outlet News4jax“I think I get upset. I get all that. But at the end of the day, let’s wait and see where it all goes. Hopefully, there is a good resolution.”

The video taken in February started moving on social media last week and it was shown that William McNell Jr. stared at the camera and saw his driver’s side window breaking the window and demanded that he go out.

The viral footage started by McNell spoke to an official as to how he was drawn, how an officer told him how his headlights were clearly closed during bad weather. In the bodycam footage issued by the Jacksonville Sheriff Office, McNell refused to hand over the evidence of his license, registration and insurance.
McNell is made in the vehicle and the window was eventually broken. Officials said they found a large unwanted knife on the side floorboard of the driver of McNell’s vehicle.
Degan said that some people have expressed disappointment that he has not expressed much resentment.

Degan reminded the audience that Jacksonville has an integrated government which means that he and Sheriff, Sheriffs have been selected independently and have different responsibilities.
“It is my job to run the city. It is his job to run the police department.”

She credited water to release bodycam videos and try to be transparent, although she reduced the decision making.
“He shows the video. He shows the bodycam video. Although you feel about it, I think Sheriff has come out and tried to be transparent with this process,” Degan said. “I think I would just ask people to be patient.

“What happened to William McNell Junior is a disturbing reminder that even the most fundamental right – as to ask why you have been drawn – can be met with violence for black Americans,” they Said in a statement. “William was calm and obedient. Yet instead of response, he broke his window and punched her face, on a suspicious claim about headlights in all daylight,”
“It was not a law enforcement, it was cruelty. All videos of JSO must be released to ensure that there is transparency for McNell and community. We demand full accountability from the Jacksonville Sheriff Office and do justice to William McNell Junior.”
