Greece is struggling with five major wildfires across the country, the authorities vacant residents in the hard-hit area in just 30 km (18.6 mi) north of Athens.
The smell of burning wood took away as central athens, as Greece requested the European Union aid to fight the spreading explosion.
Emergency comes between a serious heat. It is expected to reach 44C on Sunday, expected to remain through most weekends with excessive heat.
Greece’s Climate Crisis and Civil Defense Minister Gianis Kefalogianis said, “We have injured firefighters, human life has been put at risk, assets have been burnt, and forest areas have been destroyed.”
High winds and scorching temperature have affected flames. Greece has formally requested assistance from the European Union Civil Defense Mechanism for six additional fire fighting aircraft.
In the ethnic, the region where there is Athens, the fire started in the Afidness on Saturday, spread rapidly through Drosopigi, Cryonary and Agios Stephanos, forcing the residents to flee.
While the fire service says that the main front is contained, the scattered hotspots keep burning. More than 200 firefighting, supported by helicopters and water-water aircraft, are still working in the area.
On the island of Avia, officials said that a second explosion near Pisona was “out of control”, quickly moving towards Afrati.
Many villages, including Pornos and Mistros, have been abandoned without electricity, which has been destroyed by pylon and electric lines.
Six firefighters have so far been rushed to the hospital with burning and smoking as 115 personnel have continued fighting with flames.
“The destruction is inconsistent,” said Dirfon-Maspian Mayor Georgos PSthus.
In Kithira, a third wildfire is attaching a large part of the island, in which residents describe scenes of “total destruction”. Many settlements have been evacuated, and coastguards, assisted by private boats, rescued 139 people from Limaniyanus Beach, safely brought them to the Kapasali port.
In Mesinia, a fourth wildfire broke in the Polythia area of Tifilia on Saturday morning and later intensified during the day.
Five emergency alerts have been sent through 112 systems in Greece, urging people to leave several villages. Strong winds are making fire fighting efforts difficult, with 84 firefighters, 30 vehicles and seven aircraft explosion.
Meanwhile, in the Chania region of Crete, a fifth wildfire is fierce in Temenia. The fire started in two separate places and spread quickly, destroying at least two houses.
Officials said that many areas remained under further fire hazards, including Eonian Islands, Western Greece, Peloponis, Central Greece, Etika, Aphirus, Western Massidonia (Florina, Kastoria, Kzani), Eastern Macedonia and Threshia, Thisia (Magnesia, Farisa, Tricel).
Last month, Chieos, the fifth largest island in Greece in Northern Azian, caught fire, destroyed 4,700 hectares (11,600 acres) land.
In early July, a wildfire on the Crete Island forced the withdrawal of 5,000 tourists.
