We can still be out of a year from the 2026 World Cup, but FIFA President Gianni Infantino is already feeling energy from the thunderbolt of the world’s largest tournament coming to Canada, Mexico and the United States.
“Football or football is conquering the US,” Infantino described Fox Sports’ Alexi Lalas as a celebration in Miami on Friday during Fox’s “FIFA World Cup 26: One Year to Go”. “It would be a great festival. Millions of fans will celebrate 16 host cities, stadiums, but also in festivals everywhere.
“We will reverse the country, and then back and back down.”

So far, 13 countries have punched their tickets in the 2026 World Cup, including three co-genre, all automatically qualified. Out of 10 countries qualifying through competition in groups, two-U-Uzbekistan and Jordan-New 48-Team format thanks to the large part, making their first appearance.
“Bhavna is exactly the same, whether you are Argentina, a world champion, or Uzbekistan or Jordan,” said Infantino. “This is what we want all over the world. This is a great feeling.”
Prior to the 2026 World Cup in the next summer, FIFA will host the revived club World Cup in the United States.
“One month, the world’s best player, the world’s best club, to determine who will be the real world championship for clubs,” said Infantino. “Not only national teams, but club. It’s about time someone created a new club World Cup, isn’t it?”
The initial match of the tournament between Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahali FC will take place at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
