In a broader step with the aim of bringing back the mandates of the epidemic-era, the Trump administration on Friday directed all the federal agencies to erase any records related to the condition of Covid-19 vaccination of the employees, pre-mandate non-transportation or exemption request.
The guidance issued by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) was a reaction to the recent litigation and the officials deployed under the Biden administration are part of a broad push to describe as “harmful epidemic-era policies”.
OPM director Scott Kupor said in a statement, “Things got out of hand during the epidemic, and federal workers were fired, punished or sidelined only for taking a personal medical decisions.” ,It should never have happened. A federal appeal court blocked the enforcement of the order in 2022m and Biden canceled the mandate in May 2023, in which OPM officials were motivated to issue a memorandum to the human resource directors that “agencies should review their job posting … to ensure that any list of a qualified executive order 14043 was required as a qualification.”
Memo also reminded the agencies that the executive order could no longer be implemented.

On Friday, in a memorandum for heads of departments and agencies and acting heads, Kupor announced that immediately effective, agencies are prevented from using exemption requests in a person’s vaccine history or decision related decisions, including hiring, promotion, discipline or termination.
All the vaccine related information should be permanently removed from both physical and electronic personnel files until an employee is positively out within 90 days.
