The FBI discovered the house of former National Security Advisor John Bolton in Bethesda, Maryland, Friday morning, the bureau confirmed CBS News.
The FBI said in a statement, “The FBI is operating authorized activity in the area.” “There is no threat to public safety. We have no other comments.”
Sources familiar with the search told CBS News that it belongs to a classified documents examined.
The FBI agents were also seen exiting a downtown Washington, DC, building, where Bolton’s political action committee, John Bolton PAC is located. Late Friday night, the FBI confirmed that the agents were on the site in their office for “court authorized activity”. Associated Press reported that after the search began at Bolton’s house, he was seen in the lobby of the building, talking to two people wearing FBI Westing. The agents were seen taking bags in the office building through a back entrance.

Bolton did not respond to several attempts to reach him. The New York Post First Informed Bolton’s house was being discovered by the FBI.
President Trump on Friday claimed that he only came to know about Bolton’s house discovery when he saw it on TV. During a brief visit to the People’s House Museum, he told reporters that he felt that he would be informed by the Department of Justice “Probably some time today.” The President called Bolton “not too smart” and said “We are going to find out” If he is “a very inconsistent man.”
He claims that he tells AG Bandy and others “I don’t want to know” and “you have to do what you have to do,” saying that he may “be starting to start it” but feels better than DOJ.

Spokespersons of the Department of Justice did not respond to immediate requests for comments. As the discovery was going on, the top American law enforcement officials posted on social media.
“No one is above the law … @fbi agent on mission,” FBI director Kash Patel Posted on XAttorney General Palm Bondi shared Patel at 7:03 am Post At 7:45 am, commenting at 7:45 am, “America’s security is not negotiated. Justice will be chased. Always.”
Bolton served as a National Security Advisor during Mr. Trump’s first term, but resigned – or Sri Trump asked to resign – after serving in a job for 17 months.
During the first term of Mr. Trump, Bolton wrote a book as the National Security Advisor, “The Room Wein It Han” about his tenure, which portrayed Sri Trump in an ineffective light. The Trump administration tried to stop the publication of the book and later sued him for profit. Justice Department Open Bolton had published classified information, claiming that it failed to complete a criminal investigation in a criminal investigation.

In December 2021, Bolton was provided protection by the Biden administration in December 2021 following a series of hazards associated with Iran, who was involved in the drone strike by Mr. Trump during Bolton’s tenure. As a result of that strike, Iranian General Kasem Solimani was killed.
