To curb rising youth violence, city leaders in Fietville, Northern Carolina are implementing the curfew of a new city for minors.
Fietville Mayor Mich Colvin told Fox News Digital that the city recorded an incidents of interaction or arrest of around 2,000 incidents, including minors over a period of about 16 months.
“We saw the last few quarters of the previous year, and then the first two quarters of this year, and it was about 1,900 incidents of arrests or crimes that were carried out by adolescents. And therefore … we know that we have a problem, and we want to ensure that we are active to deal with it,” Kolwin said.
With the new ordinance, children below the age of 16 are banned from living in any public place between 11 am and 6 pm, with some exceptions, including parents or parents or any other authorized adult escort, to run direct-way works, travel from work, work from work, emergency situations, sports or school incidents and participate in supervised activities and participate in religious services.

Fietville is the home of Fort Brag, briefly known as Fort Liberty, the largest American army base by the population. According to this week, the city is still in a “educational” period in which the curfew violates will be informed about the new rules, but may have punishment such as quotes and detention with time.
17 and above adults, including parents and business owners, who are responsible for the youth found in curfew violations, may be charged with class 3 rape and a fine of maximum $ 500.

“Right now, the way the ordinance has been established … all our punitive action will be against the parents. Whatever is the responsible party – the patron of that child will be issued and possibly subject to fine and perhaps there will be arrest in some cases of frequent violations,” Kolwin said. “And we are going to tell them that there are judicial consequences for inaction.”
If the problem of minors is going on due to the neglect of the parents, then the results are.
According to the Fietville Police Department and the Mayor’s Office, Colvin brought an incident earlier this year, which took place earlier this year, when a 12 -year -old girl named Adriana Bathia was shot in a carnival in March.

“A group of children got into a dispute, and a gun was drawn, and a young woman was shot, and she was paralyzed,” said Kolwin. “It speaks to me. I knew his family, and it really made me angry. I am the father of three daughters, and I have taken my children to the carnival. I think our citizens deserve firm action.”

Other cities have implemented similar youth curfews, including Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina. Colvin said Fyetville’s curfew model is based on Charlotte.
In addition to curfew, Fietville expanded young recreational activities “and partnership with organizations that were already performing mentorship-type activities,” said the mayor. He brought a new young “Midnight” basketball program, which is not actually until midnight, but was extended by later hours. According to Colvin, some youth centers will also expand activities they provide.

A new chief will join the Fieteville Police Department next week, and Colvin hopes to help the major new ordinance of the department.
“I am sure they will ensure that they are presenting a professional response to it. They are trained their officers as their roles and conditions that will be their role. They are establishing partnerships that are necessary that the city is not alone. We will need social service. We will need a social service, we need teenage justice, we need an ecosystem at this place.
