Fantasy Premier League season is around the corner and with more managers participating, achieving that the elusive top -10K finish is proving to be more difficult than ever.
This is the place where four FPL experts of BBC Sport for 2025-26 can help.
We have compiled the best advice from Pras, Hollly Shand, FPL Heisenberg and Gianni Buttice to help get ahead of the game.
And we have spoken to BBC Sport FPL League winner Max Littlepraude with fifth finish in the world in the last season.
Max’s approach to the game was slightly different in the previous season – if XG and the underlying data leaves you cool then you can prefer his advice.
Priority to long -term plan on a short -term point chase
Pras: A good FPL manager plays the game like chess. This is not about who to choose this week or even further, a good manager sees the block’s block and targets players with good medium -term stability. By doing this, the knee shock is avoided on the tricks, especially for players who have only a good stability and then a knot-so-win run. There is a plan and stick as much as possible.
Holi: Team form and upcoming stability are two importantly important matrix when transferred while transferring. While planning the transfer, keep a close watch on the two, so that the prominent players can be picked up before their hot strices start and one March can be stolen on their rivals.
Balance premium pics in your week a team
Holi: It is important to attack the correct balance of premium players, especially when the form is more unexpected when the form is more unexpected.
For greater transfer flexibility, try to choose a premium player in each situation in your gameweek One team and then make a captaincy matrix to hoon on your major transfer goals for the upcoming weeks.
Don’t be stubborn when you have made a mistake
Heisenberg: You have to accept that when you have made an error by bringing a player, you can not ignore a player, or a player in hot form, which needs to come.
This happens to all of us – the key has to fix these conditions as soon as possible.
Avoid hit and initial transfer
Gianni: It is better to roll the transfer and if you can go without a week. Be patient, use your bench if you need to transfer and deposit. With many free transfer, you can make significant changes in your team’s structure and also take steps for the most expensive property without taking a hit.
Holi: I try to avoid quick transfer wherever possible – information is always important and so I will not hit my move till Friday afternoon. The exception to this rule is when there is no midweight European fixtures (such as before gameweek to) or where you can be excluded from a step for which you have accurate money.
trust your gut
Maximum: The way I played in the last season, changed it. I did not have that much time before being online and consumed FPL content. Whatever I did in the last season was purely intestinal instinct – I did not see any figure!
I was changing my team 30 minutes before the deadline, going to the players that I really liked and trusting my intestine. Even though I am a mathematics teacher, but I have been away from the figures because you can get stuck in them and analyze things.
Every Wednesday has a new episode of FPL Podcast from BBC Sport on BBC Sounds, as Alastair Bruce-Ball, Stateman Dave and Chris Sutton discussion and argue everything
Pay attention to minutes, set-colors and penalty takers
Pras: Occasionally, counter-in-into-into, FPL Flair is about choosing reliable players on players.
An example I used, even though Riyadh Mahrez looked amazing on the eye, players like Bruno Fernandes were always a better FPL pick, just because they were designed to play 90 minutes, to take free-kicks and penalty.
These add points and make these pics more stability-proof because a free-conclusion or fine does not depend on the difficulty of the rival.
When trapped between two players, always choose the man punishment or set-collectors.
Heisenberg: Watch full match where possible and extended highlights of all games. By watching more football, you can spot things that you cannot notice from data alone, while it allows you to easily interpret data because you will have the necessary reference.
Maximum: I saw a lot of games in the last season, so I was watching the players who enjoyed watching and going for them – using Good Old Eye Test.
Buys panic and sells anger – back your decision
Pras: FPL is a game of patience, but football is a very unexpected game. It is a recipe for great regrets.
You choose Bukeyo Saka as your captain and he misses a punishment. This is an example of good decisions, bad results.
Managers should understand that sports have an element of luck, but making good decisions on long term usually have good results. trust the process.
Do not understand the importance of xg
Gianni: Some fans are not keen on the required goals (XG) as a metric, but it is important in FPL.
If an attacker is looking at a high XG, but is not converting it to goals, they are either a bad finisher or more likely, they are actually close to catching a large slope soon.
Make sure you know and adjust new rules
Gianni: Target and assistance will always be the king but new defensive contribution points will change how we will move forward to carry forward our FPL teams, especially when shopping for budget guards and midfielders.
The first few weeks can be a learning state, so pay attention and be prepared to react.
Save money in defense
Maximum: I never spend a lot of money on defensive options. This year I’m going for two £ 4.5m defenders and two £ 4.0m
If they raise clean sheets then great, and I am banking on those who are differentiating from the more expensive pics with new defensive contribution points.
I have never spent much on defense – with the exception of FPL star like Trent Alexander -Arnold – and once I have chosen my defense I set and forget.
And finally – stop taking care of teams of other people
Heisenberg: Everyone wants to defeat their mini-league rivals and finish with as high as possible, but you can get stuck if you pay a lot of attention to other teams.
Do not try to be like them. Do not try to separate for them.
Just focus on what you can control – your own team – to maximize your points. Your overall rank and mini-league will take care of yourself.
