The family hub, which offered parenting support and youth services, will be rolled out to every local authority in England, the government has announced.
The £ 500 million scheme aims to support more than 500,000 children in the most deprived areas.
Education Secretary Bridget Philipson said that “the best start” will “give family hub families” a lifeline “.
The conservatives said that “there was some clarity on what is really new and whether the existing services resume”.
The idea of a family hub is in the early 2000s, when new labor introduced the “Sure Start” centers – focused on supporting young families with elementary education, childcare and health advice.
Many closed after 2010 when funding was cut by Tories. But last year, under Rishi Sunak, the Orthodox government rolled out 400 new “Family Hubs”, offering a wide range of services among 75 local authorities.
Now Labor says that the hub will be in every local authority by April 2026, before the end of 2028 to increase them to 1,000.
They will provide services ranging from birth registration and midwifery support to loan advice and youth clubs.
Officials hope that the vacancy will provide access to other services and social care to the families.
Ms. Philipson said: “This is the government’s driving mission to break the link between the background of a child and what they achieve – our new ‘Best Start’ Family Hubs put the first construction blocks before better life opportunities for more children.”
Chhaya Education Secretary Laura Trot said that there was really new lack of clarity, “part of a broad pattern”.
“It is a government defined by broken promises and endless U-turn,” he said.
Charity Save the Children has said that the government is “happy” to see “it is easy for families to get the help they need”.
Dan Paskins, Executive Director of Policy, Advocacy and Campaign in Save the Children’s, said: “We know from our work in local communities that bringing parenting, healthcare and education aid services at one place is an approach that works, so we are happy to see the families that we need to see them.
