French President Emmanuel Macron underlined plans for a big increase in defense spending, warning that Europe’s freedom is facing “more danger” than at any time since the end of the World War 2.
In a speech for the armed forces in Paris, he said “we are living in a significant moment due to complex geo -politics”.
Macron asked France’s defense spending to grow next year to € 3.5BN (£ 3BN) and then by another € 3BN in 2027.
