Hampton, who is playing his first major tournament as the first choice of England, had large shoes to fill in Switzerland.
EARPS – Nominated as the best female goalkeeper in the world twice – Euro played an important role in England’s victory in 2022 and the 2023 World Cup final.
But Hampton, who saw the possibility of starting in the euro before the retirement of the Years, has proved that he deserves the number one shirt.

A few months after England’s Euro victory in 2022, Hampton was removed from the squad.
Reports suggested that this was due to his behavior, and he had to wait for a memory by March 2023, when Wiegman said that Hampton had “resolved personal issues”.
Talking to BBC One after his firing hero in the final of 2025, Hampton said: “I can really say that thank you to Sarina [Wiegman] For all beliefs and faith that he was in me.
“She knew what I was able to do and she really asked me to really go into it and showed me what I could do.”
Hampton, who helped Chelsea win a domestic traables this season, showed what he is capable of the entire tournament.
After losing his initial game against France, Hampton played an important role in helping England bounce back against the Netherlands-to start an attack for England’s first goal with a sublime defense-spliting pass and set Tempo for a statement 4–0.
Then, in his quarter -finals against Sweden, he drew two great savings in the shootout to help keep the defense of England’s title alive.
Hampton told BBC Radio 5 Live after the final, “Girls run around for 120 minutes, so at least I can save some pens here and there and help the team in any way.”
He added to the BBC One: “I still have a lot to come to me. For my first major tournament, it’s not very bad to win.”
