Macron said in the trial that Owens dismissed three different demands for retraction, with the upcoming December and the finals on 1 July, and continued to pursue the stories of “Outlandish, decommed and far away about the French President and the first woman.
The trial said, “These claims are protesting false, and Owens knew that she was false when she published them.” “Nevertheless, he published them anyway. And the reason for this is clear: it is not a pursuit of truth, but a discovery of fame.”
Emmanuel Macron and Brigit Macron said in a statement that he decided to file his case after doubling Owens despite his lawyers to retreat.
“Ms. Owens’ defamation campaign was clearly disturbing and our families were designed for pain and meditation and notorious,” he said. “We gave him every chance to back down from these claims, but he refused. This is our greatest hope that the lawsuit will straighten the record and end this defamation campaign for once and for all.”
In response to the trial, an Owens spokesman said: “Candes Owens is not closing. It is a foreign government that is attacking the first amendment rights of an American independent journalist. Candes repeatedly requested an interview with Brigit Macron. Instead of offering a comment, Brigitte is trying to leave a reporter in France.

The lawsuit leads to ovens to promote baseless principles and spread misinformation and stated that he is “sensational and attracting” inflammation and attention “through the principles of conspiracy. “It alleged that the podcaster published an eight-part series about the macraon, called” Being Briguit “, and with a careless disobedience for the post truth related posts on X.
“These lies have caused tremendous damage to the macrons,” the suit states. Owens and his institutions, it continues, “Macron has been subject to a campaign of global insults, converting his life into fodder for a profitable lie. Owens has dissected their presence, their marriage, their friends, their families, and their personal history-it is all in a Gotesk story, which is worldwide.”
Macron is the President of France since 2017. He and Brigit Macron married in 2007.
In addition to the naming of Owens as a defendant, the suit named his company, Candes Owens LLC and his website, Georgacetom, Inc.
The baseless claims targeting Brigit Macron began around March 2021 and were raised by Owens in March 2024, while she was working for The Daily Wire, which was a conservative media outlet co-installing by Ben Shapiro. He was later expelled from the outlet that month.
After his end, Owens launched its podcast called “Candes” in June 2024 and put forward the allegations about Brigit Macron.
Macron sent his first comeback to Owens in December 2024, after which they published a multi-part-podcast series that the couple raised “false and defamation allegations” about Emmanuel and Brigit Macron. The third and final demand for a return was sent earlier this month.
Macron alleged in his suit that Owens published defamation statements that he was false, and said that he worked with a negligent disregard for the truth. The standard real maliciousness in defamation cases brought by public figures is a need for a plaintiff, alleging defamation to show that the defendant knew whether the statement was wrong or was worked with careless neglect to its mythology to be strong.
French President and first woman said Owens had a financial inspiration to push the claims about Brigit Macron, as her podcast series was muddy and used to promote contribution, promote membership and increase her brand.
Tom Claire, who is representing Macron, said that Owens’ conduct is “a clear case of defamation.”
