“We understand that there will be differences on the basis of the game … but it was very clear from the members that we have to protect the female category to ensure fairness, first and foremost,” Coventry said.
“But we need to do this with a scientific approach and inclusion of international associations that have already done a lot of work in the field.”

The new President said that “unanimous” support to come on an agreement about amending the policy and suggested that IOC may take inspiration from the World Athletics Policy, which prevents biological men from competing in women’s game if they have gone through male male puberty.
