Hyderabad: Ed has called four major film actors – Vijay Devarakonda, Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj and Manchu Lakshmi – as part of its investigation into illegal online betting and alleged promotion of gaming platforms.Sources said that Daggubati was directed to appear before the agency on 23 July, followed by Prakash Raj on 30 July, Dawakonda on 6 August and Lakshmi on August 13. As part of the prevention of the Money Laundering Act against 29 actors, affected and material creators, the agency issued summons after filing an enforcement case information report (ECIR). ECIR is based on an FIR filed by the police in Panjaguta, Miyapur, Visakhapatnam, Suryapat and Sibrabad in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The FIR alleges that many celebrities and social media data promoted gambling and online betting apps.Apart from four actors, other people under Ed’s lens include actors Nidi Aggarwal, Pranita, Shrimukhi and Shyamala. Many YouTubers and digital affected people have also been named in the investigation.
