The Department of Justice called a grand jury to investigate New York’s Attorney General Latitia James, with President Donald Trump’s increase in fighting with the top prosecutor of New York.
The investigation is being run out of Albani, New York, and focusing on the possible lack of allegations of rights, two well -laid sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News Digital.
The investigation is in an early stage, but Fox News Digital has learned that James’s office received a sub -ponus for documents this week, including information related to his civil fraud trial against Trump.
James, a Democrat, who was elected Attorney General in 2018, has been a target of Trump for a long time. James successfully made civil allegations against him for trade fraud in 2022 and played an important role in challenging the executive functions of his current administration in the court.
James’s office did not respond to the requests of comment on the investigation.

James began investigating the Trump organization soon after taking over, finally a $ 454 million decision against the then President and some officials of Trump’s company, including two of his sons.
A New York judge found that Trump and his business partners increased Trump’s funds to get favorable loans and other financial benefits. James said at that time that financial fraud was not a “aggrieved crime”.
“If the average New Yorkers went to a bank and presented false documents, the government will throw the book at them, and the same should be for the former presidents,” James said.

James has also been a prominent person in bringing litigation challenging the executive functions of Trump administration. James and other Democratic Attorney General have filed a lawsuit in other matters in other cases to prosecute Fedarly Funde Social Programs, federal staff firing and spending on restrictions on transgender care.
There are reports of a grand jury investigation as tension continues between Trump and James.

In April, Trump Federal Housing Finance Agency asked Attorney General Palm Bandy to investigate James’s hostage fraud, and DOJ opened a separate investigation into that case. The Washington Post reported that James received the Grand Jury Sabponus during interrogation.
James denied allegations of hostage fraud.
At the same time, Trump called him a “unique crook” on the truth social.
Trump wrote, “Latitia James, a completely corrupt politician, should resign from his position as New York State Attorney General.”
