Two colorado duties have been disciplined to share information with federal immigration agents, which is a violation of the state law implemented a few months ago.
Colorado’s Attorney General Phil Veser filed a case against Alexander Zinnik, Deputy Alexander Zinnik, the Deputy Alexander Zinqu, last week, which was exposed to the Associated Press during the arrest of a Brazilian college student after collaborating with federal immigration agents on a drug task force.
Addressing the incident on Thursday, Messa County Sheriff Todd Roolog said the 19-year-old nursing student Caroline Diocenklaves was pulled by Zwinck for a traffic stop on 5 June, when she was allegedly driving very close to the semi-truck. While the dias-gonclaves were released with a warning after about 20 minutes, the federal immigration agents stopped him and arrested him shortly thereafter.
Rowl said that Zwinck had shared its location and details of his vehicle in a group chat which included ice agents. He was arrested with snow and was taken to a detention facility, where he was held for 15 days before he was released on the bond.

In an internal investigation, Eric Olson also shared immigration information with federal agents in an internal investigation.
According to the Sheriff Office, both depots used a signal chat to inform federal agents in an attempt to assist immigration enforcement.
Rowell said in a statement that Zwinck was placed on a three -week unpaid holiday and Olson on two -week unpaid leave. Both were removed from the task force.
Two observers were also disciplined, with one without payment for two days and the other received a letter of rebuke. A third supervisor received counseling.
“The office of Messa County Sheriff should not have played any role in the series of incidents of Miss Diocenaklaves, and I regret that this happened. I apologize to Miss Diocese-Gonclaves,” said Rowell.
The ZWINck was sued under a new state law signed by Democrat Gove. Jared Polis had about two weeks before the arrest of Dies-Gonclaves. This remedy prohibits local government employees including law enforcement, from identifying information about people with federal immigration officers.
Previously, only state agencies were stopped from sharing such information.
Law is one of many passed in the years that limit state participation in immigration enforcement. It has prosecuted the Department of Justice, alleging that protective policies violate the US Constitution or Federal Immigration laws.

Zinnik and Olson reportedly told the authorities that they believe they were following the long -standing processes, although an internal investigation found that they both received and read two emails about the previous boundaries on cooperation with immigration officials.
An email sent on January 30, 2025 asked the law enforcement to not contact the homeland security check or snow, if a person arrested for a violent crime is suspected of not being a citizen.
Zwinck said in his disciplinary hearing that he did not know about the new law nor was he interested in contributing to immigration enforcement. Olson, a long time deputy, testified that it was “standard exercise” to send information to federal agents during traffic stops.
Olson said, “It was regular to talk at the back end of the traffic stop for snow.” “I really thought what we were doing was our care and valid.”
Rowell said that members of the Drug Task Force of other law enforcement agencies including Colorado State Patrol also shared information with immigration agents on signal chat, although the state patrol team denied the charge.
Before the internal investigation ended, Sheriff criticized the Visar to sue Zinik and called the Attorney General to leave the trial.

“As it stands, the lawsuit filed by the Attorney General’s office sends a morale message to the law enforcement officers in Colorado – that the law can be selective and publicly implemented for maximum political impact,” he said.
Weser said last week that he was investigating whether other officials in the group chat had violated the state law.
A spokesperson to Weser said that he was presented with evidence of “violation of state law” and had to work.
“It is the duty of the Attorney General to implement the state laws and protect the coloradans, and he will continue to do so,” said Spokesperson Lawrence Pacheko.
