A four -member team of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has started investigating the surprising allegations of large -scale secret burial in the Dharmasthala of Belthangadi taluk. The investigation launched by NHRC on its own began on Tuesday with visits to major local institutions, including Gram Panchayat Office, Local Police Station, Dharmasthala temple complex and Special Investigation Team (SIT) office. Under the leadership of Senior Superintendent of Police Yuvraj, the team has already collected records of decades on cases of unnatural deaths. Cleanliness workers and other relevant persons have made statements as part of the investigation. According to police, the investigation is expected to continue for four to five days. A witness, a former hygiene worker, claimed that he was forced to bury many bodies, many of them, women and minors over the years.
