New Delhi: Air India has reported an increase in sick leaves by pilots after the AI -171 accident on 12 June, so that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) asked the airlines to take steps for mental good of crew members.“112 pilots of Air India, including 51 commanders and 61 officials, reported to be ill on 16 June … DGCA has already released a medical circular about the mental health of flight workers and air traffic controllers,” Moss for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol told on Thursday.Many pilots, especially Boeing 787, who crashed in Ahmedabad last month, are reporting trauma after the accident. Many pilots said, “The conversation in cockpits these days is mostly limited as to what can be the cause of the accident. What is really wrong? It is actually eating us. We are not buying pilots suicidal principles that have been fuel by a highly suspected preliminary report of AAIB,” many pilots said.DGCA Medical Circular “recommends quick and effective methods to assess mental health that can easily be done by DGCA Emined Medical Examiners, and a separate, standalone and customized training capsules for flight crew/ATCO to identify and manage the adverse effects of mental health conditions”.
