New Delhi: Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday alleged that AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia bought several tops of the line mobile phones on government funds. Citing a government circular of 2013, which allows the Chief Minister and ministers to buy phones up to Rs 50,000 and Rs 45,000 respectively, Sood showed the documents that Kejriwal suggested that Kejriwal had an iPhone 720 for Rs 69,000 in 2015 for Rs 69,000, an iphone 7 plan for a period of Rs 69,000 in 2015, an iphone 7 plan for a period of Rs 69,000 in 2017, an iphone 7 plan Lakh in an iPhone 7 Plad July 2022. He further stated that Manish Sisodia bought five expensive handsets between 2017 and 2022, with the Samsung Galaxy S8 model around Rs 60,000 and the iPhone was priced between Rs 1.12 lakh and Rs 1.66 lakh. Former minister Atisi also allegedly allegedly bought a phone for Rs 1.27 lakh in 2023, although the Entited Rembracement was only Rs 45,000.Delhi CM Rekha Gupta also weighed with a poetic jib on social media. He wrote, “AAP’s hat was hiding an entire market – every step full of scams! He bought expensive phones for himself, now the truth is such a smile! The truth is not afraid of anyone, and the matter will be investigated.”Following the allegations of the Delhi BJP, the AAP criticized the recent steps by the Delhi government, which increases the limit fixed by the Chief Minister and ministers to Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh respectively. The party accused the BJP of ignoring women’s monthly support schemes and rather than spending public funds on luxury phones and additional employees for MLAs. The Aam Aadmi Party repeated the allegations by Sood, called them “wrong” and a “political sabotage”, which was aimed at derailing the welfare initiative of the previous government. AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the BJP had failed their promises from the people of Delhi and now targeting opposition leaders with “smokscreen” allegations.
