New Delhi: The annual defense production has reached a historic high of Rs 1,50,590 crore in the financial year 2024-25, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Saturday. He said that the figure has increased by 18 percent from the production of Rs 1.27 lakh crore last year and increased by 90 percent as compared to FY 2019-20, when the production was Rs 79,071 crore. The annual defense production financial year (FY) has increased to an all-time high figure of Rs 1,50,590 crore in 2024-25. Rajnath Singh said in a post on X, “These numbers indicated an increase of 18% in the production of the previous financial year last financial year, and increased by 90% since the financial year 2019-20, when the figure was Rs 79,071 crore.Singh credited development for the collective efforts of the Department of Defense Production and all stakeholders. He said, “I appreciate the collective efforts of the Department of Defense Production and all stakeholders IE, DPSU, manufacturers and private industry, obtaining this landmark,” he said. Singh said, “It is a clear indicator of the trajectory upwards to strengthen India’s defense industrial base.” This milestone comes amidst the continuous attention of the government on the “Antrifik Bharat” initiative, with increasing participation from both public and private sector companies in the production of advanced weapons, platforms and systems for the armed forces.
