An artist from Cornwall who is celebrating his 107th birthday, has said that being themselves is the key to a happy life.
Moli Silver, who was alive during both world wars and has seen five emperors taking the throne, is celebrating the occasion with friends and party involving friends and family in the Women’s Institute Hall in Constantine.
After completing a two -year course at Rugby College, when she turned 60, the mother -in -law handled the art and set a gallery in her garage, where she still sells her paintings.
“I am not sure how this has happened, but I think I have forgotten to die somehow,” she said.
‘I don’t feel old’
Friends and family, including his daughter, who have traveled from Australia, were expected to celebrate their birthdays with him.
Born in Staffordshire, Moli has lived in Cornwall for more than 40 years.
“I was 60 years old when I came here with my husband and we found this small bungalow and we have loved it since,” she said.
As she has grown up and is less capable of leaving home, Mrs. Silver said that when she was younger, she used to spend time thinking.
“They tell me that I am an old man and I have to go with him,” he said.
“I am disappointed because I can’t do what I used to do, but I don’t feel like an old person.”
Mrs. Silver said that the key to lead a happy live “self, if you can”.
“You don’t have to pretend to be another person,” he said.
“I have always been happy that it is happy in my body and I have enjoyed my life.”
Her daughter, Penny Lease, who traveled from Australia, said about her mother: “She wakes up in the morning and goes on Facebook and writes an email, she does her painting.
“I think he is very amazing, he is still too much in life.”
One of his friends, Sally Martin said that he had a “amazing, can-do attitude” and made the life of those who know him rich.
He said, “She does not use anything, especially technology and social media, almost as much as me – and I am 50 years younger than that.”
“He is really interesting and fun to chat, but he is also one of those who are really happening in your life with your family and your friends.”
