Efforts to overhall the Coast Guard are receiving traction on Capital Hill – the Trump coincides with the effort of the Trump administration to recreate the service to address the illegal migrant crossings and drug seizures.
Several initiatives to update the Coast Guard are running within both the Congress chambers and within the Homeland Security Department (DHS). All want to elevate the service, so it is equal to other branches of the army that fall under the Defense Department, and better ways to deal with drugs and immigration contradiction missions.
The House Vidhan, which has authorized the money for service through 2029, has recently approved the vote of a committee and its aim is to empower the service to operate these missions.

Such missions are growing only for coast guards. The proposal aims to beef the force of the Coast Guard, which currently has about 43,000 active-duty personnel, and determine which specialties need to be reinforced to expand the training. The blueprint also asks for a series of changes to better align the Coast Guard with the standards of the Defense Department for physical fitness, body composition and grooming.

Coast Guards, unlike other military services, do not apply fitness standards unless the personnel are connected to the boat crew of the law enforcement teams.
The initiative comes in response to the trump administration’s efforts to deal with illegal immigration and drug trafficking, the DHS officer told an officer familiar with the scheme to Fox News Digital in April.
