A mummy whose daughter died at the age of 20 hours, when she was left alone during the labor, says that her mind has a “in her mind”.
Lilluven Iris Thomas died on 10 October 2022 at Cardiff University Hospital in Wales due to lack of oxygen Emily Brezier gave birth alone and coma after reaction to pain medicine,
Emily said that Lilyven’s death should not “be in vain” and all health boards want to change their policies on pain relief in labor and induction.
The Welsh government said that “there were mechanisms to learn to share”.
33 -year -old Emily said to Cardiff that he felt that the inquiry gave his family “justice”.
He said: “To say that it should not have happened to the coroner and that he should be here is something that we need to listen to.”
The annoying details of Lilvan’s birth are “in Emily’s mind” – she was alone in the induction suit of the maternity unit, where women live during the early stages of labor.
“I was just puffing on gas and air, I could not move forward, I could not press a call bell, I could not open my eyes, it was as if I was stuck in my body.”
Emily was given significant quantity Pathidine and Codine With monitoring of gas and air use.
“I thought ‘someone will come and help me – of course, someone will help me.” But no one did it. ,
Emily’s companions were not with him due to the policy of Rodri Thomas, 41, Cardiff and Well Health Board, until his partner was in active labor, the ward was not allowed on the ward.
Hospital records show that no investigation was done on Emily for any hour, when she gave birth to Lilvan as she came out inside and out of the coma and she woke up to see “so much blood and a child lying there”.
Emily said, when reached Rodari, no one told them about the seriousness of the situation and the first thing she said to him: “I don’t know if our child is alive or not.”
The next hour was filled with family members’ trips, who called Lilvan “Namaste and Goodbye” that it became clear that she would not survive.
Emily still feels “incredible guilt” about her life support machine and Lilyven died in her father’s arms.
The Health Board said it sent his “deep sympathy” to the family and “was fully committed to learning from this tragic event”.
It states: “In response to raised concerns, we have implemented strong changes in staffing, escalation protocol and psychological support for both families and employees.”
A spokesperson said the board would welcome the opportunity “to meet Lilven’s family to share the tasks with the family”.
Now, the family wants to change maternity care, as well as those changes that they can help all the families whose relatives suffer from death or injury in NHS.
Since 2022, Lilyven’s interrogation had made fundamental changes to the Health Board, which only allowed women to use gas and air under supervision, reducing the dosage of other painkillers and assuring their induction procedures.
Emily said that it should now be implemented by the Welsh government in all health boards.
“It seems that every other week there are more cases about the child injury or death and maternity services are on their last legs,” she said.
“If they can apply cardif and vale changes, it is close to a step of not re -being.”
The family is also concerned that Lilluven’s death was investigated by an officer within the Health Board.
“For families it just leaves an element of prejudice – of cover up – it doesn’t just sit well and it does not help in the grieved process,” Emily said.
She wants to set up an independent body to deal with cases in Wales – something that already happens in England Hssib Or MSNI In maternity cases.
Another avenue for change may be through review of good guidance on pain relief in labor – something raised by Coreoner Rachel Knight in one Prevention of future death report after Lilyven’s inquiry,
Okay, the body that issues guidance in NHS in Wales and England is until 3 September to respond.
Emily said, “It seems that if we can achieve the change that we feel that Lilven’s death will not be in vain,” Emily said.
“Then I can say that I have done everything in his name and to think that this will not happen to any other family, there is a feeling of justice for us too.”
The Welsh government said that the patient was “paramount” and it was known about the conclusions in Cardiff and Well Health Board.
It states: “An independent assessment of all Welsh Maternity and Newborn Services began in July to assess how all maternity services are performing against the national guidelines.”
Family lawyer, Slater and Gordon Still talking on a claim against the Health Board And senior colleague Lara Bennett called Lilven’s death “absolutely tragic and … completely avoidable”.
He said that it was “important” that all health boards in Wales adopted new policies to ensure that Lillven’s death is not allowed to resolve.
