Now 43-year-old Watson-Viliums, Ms. Sahchi waiting to sleep after one night, before breaking and attacking her in her house.
She later realized that due to her hard wood floor, she would be able to track her footsteps around the flat and know that she was sleeping with lack of movement.
During the attack, she pretended to sleep, fearing what she is trying to fight her, she can do with her.
Ms. Saatchi tried to move forward and forget what happened, but finally decided to report the attack after 20 years after feeling “responsible” to see Watson-Villiams brought to justice.
He said that from the moment he reported the incident that she was confident and supported by the Avon and Summerset Police project Blue Stone team officials, which focuses on sexual violence.
Investigating officer PC Chris Quick supported him throughout the process, he said.
Ms. Saatchi said, “I really had to do more than reporting the details that I had and then he took it from there.”
At any point she was not asked about how intoxicated she was or what she wore.
“(PC Quick) said that you can also completely naked the road and that the difference between a rapist and a general member of the society is a general member of the society, who will wrap you in a towel, will give an ambulance ring or bring the family member to gather and keep you safe,” he said.
“A rapist will take advantage of that situation, but no matter what you are wearing, how much you feel that you have to drink, no one has the right to attack in that way.”
Ms. Sachi said: “This is what I really want to know people. Many people may not have reported rape because they are drunk, so they feel a feeling of shame.
“I did not walk in my flat and raped myself, I found nothing to be ashamed.”
‘important message’
The Watson-Villiams of Close of Stanfield in Bristol’s Lockles was sentenced to 12 years in jail in the Bristol Crown Court on Monday, with an extended license period of three years.
PC Quick said: “The sentence reflects the seriousness of what happened to him. He was attacked in his house where he should be safe, and has been extremely adventurous to come forward about the attack who made him feel weak and live in fear for years.
“We hope that this conviction sends an important message – any work of violence will never be tolerated, and every victim is entitled to listen and support, no matter how time ago the attack took place.”
