The family of a teenager who was killed over eight years ago says that he is “heartbroken” after an expensive floral tribute in his street memorial.
16 -year -old Connor Smith died When a driver is black out on the wheel And hit him on 13 January 2017 after driving on the wrong part of Old Chester Road in Birkenhead.
Friends and family have paid tribute to Connor on important dates since laying flowers in a memorial plaque on nearby Bedford Road.
His grandparents were stolen on Monday, the day he was placed on the site, which was his 25th birthday.
“We are destroyed – my mother is heartbroken,” said Connor’s aunt Tracy Williams.
He said, “Everyone in the community knows what this monument means to his family and friends,” he said.
“These flowers were expensive, my mother does not work by half.
“I would ask, how would anyone who steals them would have liked it if this would have happened to them?”
Connor’s grandmother travels a weekly for her memorial.
Andrew Williams from Rock Ferry was imprisoned in November 2017 for three years and four months, when he caused dangerous driving death.
At that time, the Liverpool Crown Court heard that it had failed to inform his epileptic DVLA.
