New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday surprised the 1.6 lakh booth -level agents appointed by 12 political parties in Bihar, recorded only two claims to include in the electoral rolls, which was prepared after a special intensive amendment of the voter list and had excluded 65 lakh voters for three reasons – Dead, Duplicate or Monthly. It also suggested to the Election Commission that it should consider as a standalone identity document for the voters excluded in the election list. It also refused to expand the time limit of sept 1 to present claims and objections, while saying that they could rethink the decision if they demand to include and exclude numbers. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymlya Bagchi emphasized the importance of political parties participation in the preparation of the voter list, saying that it is important for elections and is important for democracy. It vested 12 parties – Congress, BJP, BSP, AAP, CPM and NPP (National parties) and RJD, JD (U), LJP (Ram Vilas), CPI -ML (L), RLJP and RLSP (State parties) were directed to include their names in the current proceedings. While issuing notice to the state presidents, working presidents and general secretaries of these 12 political parties, the bench asked the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar to inform the top officials of the parties of the parties to inform the top officials of the state units that the next date of hearing, to be present in the SC with its status report on SIP 8. The court, however, filed claims by politicians-petitioners that EC Blass was not allowing claims/objections. Regarding the observation of SC, 1.6 lakh Blass shows that EC lawyer Rakesh Dwivedi repeatedly highlighted the opposite among the protests by political parties against Sir and left the lack of any effort to include voters, which has been abandoned.
