New Delhi: As the Presidential post of Pakistan’s President of UNSC, near its trade end, Islamabad is ready to organize an open debate on unresolved controversies around the world, which urges members-regulations to follow with a proposal to use the mechanisms available for the Pacific settlement of disputes. While the objective behind calling this signature program under the maintenance of the International Peace and Safety Agenda of the United Nations is to highlight the Kashmir issue, it is unlikely that Pakistan will be named Jammu and Kashmir for fear of attaining resolution. UNSC resolutions require nine votes to pass, including the consent of all five permanent members.Pakistani deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit New York on July 22 to preside over the event, which will also be given information by General Secretary Antonio Guterres.According to the report of the Security Council, the purpose of Pakistan is to adopt resolution to urge the complete use of all chapters VI mechanisms. Article 33 of the chapter states that parties for any dispute, whose continuity is likely to endanger the maintenance of international peace and safety, will look for a solution between other things, arbitrations and arbitrations. However, the same article also states that parties can seek a solution through “other peaceful means of choice”. Syed Akbaruddin, former Indian Ambassador to the United Nations, says, “Generic resolution that would be ideological in nature, focus on general principles not to pay attention to specific issues to avoid any objections.” Pakistan also knows that except China, all other permanent members continue to maintain that Kashmir is a bilateral issue.Underlining the role of the council in maintaining peace and security, many members-states emphasize any such effort that it cannot reduce the sovereignty of the state or call for settlement agreements without the consent of both sides. The open debate follows the closed consultations called by Pakistan on 5 May, in which the India-Pakistan tension was discussed after the Pahgam terror attack.Pakistan will also call another signature program under its presidential post, expects to strengthen cooperation between the United Nations and the organization of Islamic Cooperation (OC), a 57-member body that has repeatedly expressed support for the Kashmir agenda of Islamabad.
