New Delhi: Police on Thursday blamed the recently increased seasonal patterns in criminal activities in Bihar, farmers and the upcoming state elections due to increasing political attention. Addressing a press conference, Bihar’s Additional Director General of Police, Kundan Krishnan claimed that traditionally murder rates before the monsoon season.News agency Annie said, “Recently, there have been many firing and murders in Bihar. In this month of June, more than normal murders have been observed in recent years. The trend continues until the monsoon comes in June as most farmers do not have much work during this period,” news agency Annie said Krishnan.“Once the rain starts, the people of the agricultural community get busy, and the number of such incidents decreases. However, due to frequent media coverage of the murder – and given that it is also an election year – political parties have started focusing more on such incidents,” he said. Krishnan said, “Therefore we have created a new cell this month. The work of that cell will have to make a database of all former shooters, contract killers and keep an eye on them.”It comes hours after a rival gang shot a prisoner on parole while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Patna on Thursday morning.Recently, a series of similar shoots in the state, which is ready for assembly elections in a few months. The opposition has criticized the Nitish Kumar-Left government for the deteriorating law and order situation.There have been many shooting incidents in Bihar, which was shot and killed outside his house in Patna earlier this month. Khemka sought police protection for her family.A few days after Khemka’s assassination, another BJP leader Vikram Jha was shot dead by an unknown assailant in Patna’s Ram Krishna Nagar area. Jha died of injuries while being taken to the hospital. On Sunday, two persons, a lawyer and a teacher were shot dead in separate incidents in Patna and Saran districts of Bihar.RJD leader Tejashvi Yadav had previously criticized the state government rapidly, questioning that “the NDA government is ready to hear any truth or accept their mistakes”. “And now, a BJP leader is shot in Patna! What to say, and to whom? Is the NDA ready to hear any truth or accept their mistakes?” Tejashvi Yadav posted on X.
