An elderly pedestrian was badly killed by a car in Sutton Coldfield.
The accident, which included a white Mercedes, took place at Thornhil Road, Streetley, where the police on Saturday found a person in the late 70s with fatal injuries just before 18:00 BST.
Authorities arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of death from dangerous driving and drink-driving. He is being questioned in custody.
West Midland Police said that the officials were working to establish the entire circumstances and were particularly interested in talking to the driver of a silver range rover who could have important information.
