Around 300 people have joined a protest at Mold, Flintshire to oppose any possible plan to provide housing for shelter seekers in the city.
Organized outside the Poundaland shop on Saturday, the protesters were unhappy about rumors that some flats in the city could be used for refugee.
Meanwhile, about 40 people participated in a nearby counter protest against the banner, in which “no racism” and “reception of asylum seekers” were read.
Police officers had to stand at a point between the two sides during some conflict scenes.
The home office has refused to comment.
One of the organizers of the protest, 49 -year -old Net Lloyd said: “I have lived in mold for 49 years. We need to live together, take care of each other and support our first”
However, one of the counters-protesters, Benjamin Lawrence Jones said he wants to show his support for “people of different backgrounds”.
He said, “We were standing on our ground, singing our songs, and standing for what we believe is the main thing at the end of the day,” he said.
