Union Minister Amit Shah will announce a new National Cooperative Policy on Thursday as part of the objective of the Center to strengthen cooperative societies in the country. Shah, who is also an associate minister, will announce the ‘National Cooperative Policy 2025’ on 24 July. A policy has been prepared by a 48 -member national level committee led by former Union Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu. An official statement said in an official statement on Tuesday, “The new cooperative policy will prove to be a milestone in India’s cooperative movement for the next two decades from 2025-45.” The new policy will target the cooperative sector to revive and modern. It will replace the first National Cooperative Policy released in 2002. The ministry said that due to globalization and technological progress in the last two decades, it became necessary to bring a new policy. The new policy has been designed to enhance the role of the region in making the new policy “more active and useful in the current economic scenario” and to achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Policy will also try to make cooperative institutions inclusive and professional so that they can create employment and livelihood opportunities.
