Air India CEO Campbell Wilson said on Wednesday that the airline has started a phased restoration of its international operations from 1 August, with a complete resumption on October 1, 2025.
Wilson said in a statement, “This measured approach ensures that we fully complete every verification and resume the service with full confidence.”
Accepting the disruption recently, he said, “I believe that there have been some operating challenges in the last few weeks, which have affected your travel experience. The rest has assured, we take it seriously and are committed to strengthening our internal processes to reduce such discomfort.”
On 18 June, the airline announced a 15 percent reduction in its international services operated by Widebody aircraft, which cited the need to stabilize operations and prioritize security after the Ahmedabad accident, including flight AI171.
Air India said in a statement, “This decision has been made to ensure the stability of our operations, improve efficiency and reduce the discomfort to passengers.”
Prior to six days, the airline canceled 83 international flights due to increasing operational barriers. The affected passengers were provided with alternative travel options, including ribbooking in without any additional cost or full corresponding.
HT reported on 16 July that from 1 August to 30 September, Air India would operate three weekly flights between Ahmedabad and London Heathrow, which would replace the current five weekly flights between Ahmedabad and London Gatvik.
From 1 August, the Delhi -Zurich road will increase from four to five weekly flights. In the Far East, the daily operations on the Delhi -Toko Henada route will resume from 1 August, and Delhi -Alol Incheon will work five times a week from 1 September.
The Delhi-London Heathro route has already returned to its full-east accident frequency of 24 weekly flights effective from July 16.
The Amritsar -Biringham route will remain on two weekly flights till 31 August and will return to three flights a week from September. Other international routes in Delhi – including Birmingham, Paris, Milan, Copenhagen, Vienna and Amsterdam, which include – will continue with the curtain frequencies. Delhi -Amstardam, however, is ready to resume daily operations from 1 August.
