New Delhi: A Golden Chassis of the United States helped download 49 hours of flight data from the black box of Air India’s sick Boeing 787-8 aircraft to be crashed last month. After a deadly accident that destroyed the aircraft and 260 people died on 12 June, the AayaiB Bureau of Investigation (AAIB) retrieved two black boxes or extended Airborne Flight Recorders (EAFRS) and brought them to the national capital on 24 June.Generally, the data of the damaged flight recorder is downloaded after relevant download cables from Golden Chassis and other accident investigating officers. In the current investigation, Aaib said on Saturday that the Golden Chassis or the same EAFR unit and EAFR were detected from the US National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) to download the cable required to download the data required.Download from FWD Eafr was attempted at Aaib Lab in the national capital on 24 June and the Crash Protection Module (CPM) was recovered from forward EAFR and found in good condition.“CPM was placed on Golden Chassis and raw data was downloaded from EAFR. Downloaded flight data had about 49 hours of flight data and 6 flights, including event flights.Aaib said in its preliminary investigation report on the plane crash, “The recovered audio was at two hours in length and captured the incident. Early analysis of recorded audio and flight data has been done.”According to the report, the AFT EAFR was largely damaged and could not be downloaded through traditional means. The CPM was opened to inspect the memory card. The disadvantage was widespread, it was added.Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar Singh has been appointed as investigator-in-charge, while Jasbir Singh Larhga is the chief investigator. Vipin is Venu Varakoth, Veeraragavan and Vaishnav Vijayakumar is the investigator.Veteran pilots, engineers, aviation medical experts, aviation psychologists and flight recorder experts have been taken on board as subject experts to assist in investigation.
