The Hothis announced the appointment of Mohammad Ahmed Muftah after the death of Ahmed al-Mahavi, who was killed in an Israeli air strike that targeted the Yemeni capital Sanaa. The announcement was made from the President of Hauthi, Mahdi al-Mashat, who confirms the promotion of Muftah from the first Deputy Prime Minister for the head of the group government.

Born in 1967 in Al-Haymah district of Sana, Mohammad Ahmed Muftah is a prominent religious and ideological leader within the Hauthi movement. He started his career as a preacher and religious teacher in mosques and quickly known for promoting a strict, hardcore message combined with group principles.Mufta studied under influential clerics, including Badar al-Din al-Hauthi, and actively participated in lectures and summer programs with the aim of spreading the ideology of the movement among young people. During the SA’ADA wars, Muft was arrested for supporting Hothis. Later, he joined the Supreme Revolutionary Committee established after the group’s acquisition and helped establish the Al-Emah party, which politically align with Hauthis.
