Russian rescue services have found the debris of an aircraft that disappeared about 16 km (10 mi) from its destination in the remote Amur region.
Officials said the Angara Airlines AN -24 aircraft carrying 42 passengers and six crews left the Bagveshchhenkask close to the Chinese border and the radar had disappeared from the screen as it reached near the Tibba airport, said the officials said.
Amur’s Regional Governor Vasili Orlov said that “all necessary resources” were deployed to find the aircraft. He said that five children were on the board.
Shortly thereafter, the Ministry of Emergency of Russia said that a Russian civilian aviation helicopter had burnt the torso by the aircraft. No one is believed to have survived.
The Civil Defense Center in Amur said that the aircraft was found on the hill of about 16 km (10 mi) from Tinda, Tass News Agency reported.
The footage of the scene showed the debris from the burning aircraft in the dense woodland and the rescue team said they would take about an hour to reach the site.
According to emergency officials, initial inquiry is looking at either pilot error in bad weather conditions or technical faults.
The AN-24 aircraft was in the final stages of a route from Khabarovsk in the far south-east of Russia.
