Summer camp is not only for children. Yelp reported an increase of about 350% in the discovery of adult summer camps this year, as people discover community and apathy.
“What is really good is planned for all activities,” said Camper Kenny Rousnstock.
Kent comes together every weekend to meet new friends in the club gateway in Connecticut, campers 21 and older and again to have a child.
Shemia Bisco said, “When I was younger, I had camp overnight, and I remember that I was going on water, going to rock climbing. Why was it not done with some alcohol,” said Shemia Brisco, which was one of many.
Open for children during the week, the club gateway has been welcoming adults for almost 50 years.
“I think people come here for an experience. They want to meet new people. They want to try different things and feel a part of a community, even for a short time,” David Shreebar, said David Shribar.
It was not recently, although the program doubled as interest. Schriber is related to increasing interest for people craving for a simple time.
He said, “Things are still complicated. There is a simplicity that comes here, okay? Just like a depth in the gourd to laugh and meet people and talk foolish, Zani,” he said.
The desire to escape comes as 66% of workers, an all-time high, with report burnout as well as with increasing levels of loneliness.
“It is difficult to find friends as an adult,” Bisco said. “So, like, the fact that we can still join as adults and like, enjoy each other … without our phone and just be happy, it matters a lot.”
