The Economic Crime Wing has registered a case of cheating against Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty, her husband and businessman Raj Kundra and an unknown person at Juhu police station for allegedly cheating Mumbai businessman Deepak Kothari. 60.4 crore A loan-cum-investment deal includes his now closed company, Best Deal TV Private Limited.
According to Deepak Kothari’s complaint, he provided 60.48 crores between 2015 and 2023 for the expansion of the company, but the couple allegedly used funds for personal expenses.
Kothari said he was introduced to Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra by agent Rajesh Arya in 2015, when he was the director of Best Deal TV – an online shopping platform in which Shetty allegedly organized more than 87% shares by Shetty.
Arya allegedly sought 75 crore loans for the company at 12% annual interest, but suggested rooting it as “investment” to reduce tax liabilities. After a meeting, and the deal was finalized with the assurance of timely repayment.
