A man who raped and murdered his former fiancé at a luxury hotel of Surrey was jailed for life.
The 61 -year -old James Cartright killed 54 -year -old Samantha Mikleberg at the five -star Penihil Park Hotel of the Bagshot last April.
The mother-in-two, the mother-in-law of the Exeminster in Davon, arranged to celebrate the 60th birthday of the Cartaright with her, and only agreed to share the twin room as she “did not want to feel alone”, a jury was told.
Cartright was sentenced to a minimum of 28 years in jail after being found guilty of rape and murder in a case in Guildford Crown Court.
‘Vicious and fatal attack’
Ms. Mikaleberg’s family called the Cartright “evil, controlled, manipulated hunter”.
While sentenced to him on Friday, Mr. Justice Murray said: “Samantha’s family is sad that those who have not experienced it cannot imagine. It is to fully describe beyond words.”
Ms. Mikaleberg, who calls loved ones a “champagne girl”, who burnt every room, which she had gone, was first associated with the Carterite.
After killing him, he called 999 the next morning, claiming that he had discovered the dead next to him on the bed.
A jury unanimously convicted him of murder and rape but acquitted him with controlled or tremendous behavior.
Prosecutor Lewis Okle argued that during the relationship of her and Ms. Mikleberg, Cartol’s conduct was “cruel, repressive and overbiring”.
The Crown Prosiction Service (CPS) described the first Cartaright as taking advantage of Ms. Mikleberg’s kindness, a “vicious and deadly attack”.
Moses Koroma from CPS stated that the jury “directly saw through the claims of the cartright that all this resulted in falling out of her bed”.
