A person has died in an accident at a level in a level in Kent and an accident.
Kent police said that this was called at around 12:40 BST for an accident at the crossing at Lower Road, Tenham.
Paramedics participated but a person was declared dead at the scene, (BTP) British Transport Police said.
There is a serious disruption to train services in the area, which has a replacement bus service in trains and operations unable to travel between Newton and Favarsham.
The BTP said the accident was under investigation.
South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service also participated.
South Eastern Railway said: “A train was involved in a collision with a van at a level near Teenham this afternoon.
“We are working with emergency services and railway accident investigation branch after this incident.
“In the involved train, passengers have been shifted to another train and taken to Sitingborn for further travel.”
South East said that the line between Gilingham and Favarsham was not expected to open again on Sunday night.
