The Department of Justice on Thursday issued requests for sheriffs at several large California counties – including Los Angeles and San Francisco Counties – for the list of all prisoners in their jails who are not United States citizens.
The requests also include allegations or punishment of illegal immigrants, and their scheduled release dates, according to a news release from DOJ’s public affairs office.
“In recent years, the United States faced an unprecedented illegal aliens invasion,” officials wrote in release. “Many of the illegal aliens commit crime to commit crimes on US soil, including rape, murders and other violent crimes. Today’s data requests are designed to assist federal immigration officers in prioritizing the removal of illegal aliens committing crime after illegally entering the United States.”
