Smith’s football trip began at the age of five when she joined the Whitbi Irockois SC, and she made her debut at Canada Youth Set-up at the age of 12.
Fastly forward from three years 2019 and she reached the international stage against Brazil and New Zealand in an invitation tournament in Chongking, China.
Smith represented Canada to the two ConcacAF Women’s U20 Championships (2022, 2023) and two Women’s U20 World Cup (2022, 2024), and returned to the senior party in 2023, selected for that year’s World Cup.
He scored his first international goal in a 6–0 win over Al Salvador in 2024 Gold Cup and was named the best young player of the tournament.
Smith is not only seen as the successor of Christine Cinclair, who scored a talistic record goal, but is the key to Canada’s hopes of winning international honors.
At the club level, Smith started her career with North Toronto Nitros in League 1 Ontario in 2022, winning the golden boot in her debut campaign with 18 goals in 11 matches.
He then spent a season in playing college football at NCAA for Pen State Nitni Lions for his university eligibility to change a three -year contract with sports in July 2023.
He contested from Chelsea and PSG, and for the then head coach Mariana Cabral, Smith’s ability was clear.
Cabral told BBC Sport, “Thirty seconds in the video we were, ‘Yes, let’s sign it. He was clearly a complete package, which is very rare.”
“Not only did he have technical ability, but also had materiality. He is explosive and strong, good on the ball and can nutmeg to get the past like this.
“She wanted to start her professional career and that’s why she came to us. She liked us because of the way she played at the time – very occupied – based, very attacking – and she needed minutes to grow.
“But we knew that Portugal was a step for him; she would go to big places.”
In his first season in Europe, Smith collected 22 goals involvement (13 goals, nine aids) in 18 league performances as he collected another best young player Gong and finished second in the sports table.
He attracted Liverpool’s attention, signing before the 2024–25 season.
