Downing Street said that Germany has designed to tighten its laws for smuggling gangs smuggling migrants in the UK by the end of the year.
The announcement has been made with a new agreement between the UK and Germany that covered areas including migration, trade and defense, which will be signed on Thursday during the first official visit of Frederick Merz in the UK as a German Chancellor.
For the convenience of illegal migration in Britain, Germany will make changes illegal.
Currently the facility of smuggling people in Germany is not technically illegal, if it is for the country outside the European Union – which includes the UK, after Brexit.
Downing Street said the move would make it easier for German authorities to investigate and take action against the warehouses and storage facilities used by smugglers to hide small boats for illegal channel crossings in the UK.
Berlin agreed to tighten his law in December Under the previous government, but the new Chancellor is now expected to be committed to change the law by the end of the year.
Last year a BBC investigation Highlighting the important German connection for small boat crossings, became a central location for storage of boats and engines in the country.
Sir Kir said: “Chancellor Merz’s commitment to disrupt the supply lines of dangerous ships to make necessary changes in the German law, welcome to the channel that takes illegal migrants in the channel.”
During the state visit of President Emmanuel Macron, the German agreement was signed a week after Britain announced a new pilot return plan with France.
Under the “One in, One Out” deal, some small boat arrival will return to France, accepting a similar number of shelter seekers with Britain connections to the UK.
The Prime Minister is under pressure to deal with the number of people crossing the channel in small boats on Sir Kir Stmper.
So far this year, more than 21,000 people have traveled dangerous – 56% increase in the same period in 2024.
Orthodox Chhaya Home Secretary Chris Filp claimed that “the channel’s crisis spiral continues”.
“It’s just one tired, Kir is a headline-chasing from the stormer,” he said.
“He is still hitting foot to be relevant with another gimmick, but this is not the latest press release a plan, but a distraction …
“This government has clearly lost control over our borders and exposed the country when they canceled our returns.”
Defense and security are also on the agenda for the journey, the leaders have determined to discuss the support for Ukraine.
The pair will unveil a new agreement to promote UK defense exports such as boxer armored vehicles and typhoon jets, through joint exports for co-produced equipment.
Downing Street said that the agreement is expected to export billions of pounds additional defense in the coming years, leading to promotion of economy and jobs.
A cooperation treaty will also set up a new UK-Germany Business Forum to facilitate investment in both countries.
A series of commercial investments in the UK are being announced to match with a trip, which costs more than £ 200m and create more than 600 new jobs.
The companies involved are defense tech firm Stark, which will create 100 jobs through a new feature in Swindon – marking the company’s first expansion outside Germany.
