The fans of Jayne Torville and Christopher Dean’s final ice skating shows were “excited” and “emotional”.
The Olympic gold medalists were set to skate together for a final time in Nottingham on Saturday, ending their 50 -year career.
A rink was also officially officially at the National Ice Center Plated after them And a blue plaque marking his final performance was revealed on Tuesday.
Speaking further from her final performance, 44 -year -old Laura Effleck from Nottingham said: “We have grown up to see him and we wanted to stay here before retiring.”
Jane Deris-Timson from Nunton of Warwickshire said that she could not wait for the “iconic day” to begin.
“I am very excited, I can’t tell you,” said Ms. Deris-Timson.
The 56 -year -old said she was a “big fan”, since she saw the pair winning gold at the 1984 Winter Olympics.
He said, “I have seen him some time ago and I am very emotional to come here on the last day.”
“His journey began here and he is a national treasure. He has done a lot for Nottingham and comprehensive community.”
74 -year -old Usha Soni said that she used to watch Torville and Dean exercises when she worked next to an ice rink in London.
Ms. Soni said, “Ice Rink used to give tickets to our office and I was lucky that they were watching her back performing.”
“I will be very happy for them and wish him all the best in future.”
77 -year -old N Powell of West Bridgeford said: “I saw him performing soon after winning the Olympics many years ago, which was amazing.
“They have a really good career and I feel very lucky and special to live here.”
Next to its final performance, Christopher Dean stated that the pair “will always be part of Nottingham”, will always be a “special place” in their hearts to connect the city.
