Democratic National Committee (DNC) President Kane Martin dismissed concerns over the reluctance of NYC Democratic Mayorial candidate Zoharan Mamdani, which is to welcome you to condemn the slogan “EtiFada” to condemn the slogan globally, with which you welcome you.
After the democratic primary election for the Mayor of New York City on former Governor Andrew Kuomo, he was a monumental disturbance of the Mammadani, to refuse to condemn a phrase used to describe the violent Palestinian rebellion against Israel. The slogan, “globally Intefada,” has become a rally cry for anti -Israeli protesters in the United States, since Hamas’s attacks against hundreds of innocent Israelis of October 7, 2023.
“There is no candidate in this party that I agree with 100% time to be honest with you. There are things that I do not agree with what he said, but at the end of the day, I always believe, for the last 14 years as the chair of a democratic party in Minnesota and now as the chair of DNC, which you wins, besides it, said,” said “Martin said. “You win by bringing people into your alliance. We have orthodox-democratic, we have Centrist-Democrats, we have labor-progress like me, and we have this new brand of Democrats that are leftist,” Martin continued. “We are going to lead the party in that alliance and at the end of the day, the kind of party that is going to lead. We are a big tent party.”
Martin admitted that sometimes this type of coalition building leads to “dissatisfaction and debate,” but, he said, such “differences of differences” should be celebrated and recognized as a way to advance the party.
Last month, during a podcast, Mamdani referred to the controversial slogan as “equality in standing for Palestinian human rights and a desperate desire for equal rights”. When the NBC’s “Meat the Press” was clearly given another chance to condemn the phrase, the NYC mayoral candidate refused to do so again.
“We are going to lead the party in that alliance and at the end of the day, the kind of party that is going to lead. We are a big tent party.”
Anti -Israeli activists included “Global” during the protest against ‘Naqba Day’ at Brooklyn Boro in New York City on 15 May 2025. ‘Naqba Day’, which means “destruction” in Arabic, is an annual day of remembrance for Palestinians to mark the expulsion from the land that now creates parts of Greater Israel, which took place during the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. “This is not the language I use,” Mamdani told NBC’s Christon Velkar. “The language in which I use and the language I will continue to use to lead the city, is that which clearly speaks with my intention, which is an intention in faith in universal human rights.”
Hakim Jeffrees says NYC hope Mammadani needs to clarify its position on ‘Intifada global’.
When Velkar doubled whether Mammadami would “really condemn”, which Velkar saw a lot of people as a call for violence against Jews, Mammadani replied that he had talked about the anti-Jewish Jewish new yoors as well as anti-Jewish criminals and said that he would have said to increase “ante-Hate Crime Programming” in the city.
“Finally, I think what I need to show is not only the ability to talk about anything, but also to deal with it and there is no place for antismitism in this city,” Mamdani replied. “And we have to stop the fanaticism, and eventually we do this through tasks, and he is the mayor that I will be, a Jewish that protects New Yorkers and remains to the commitment that I do through the work that I do.”

Before turning to a separate subject, Velkar demanded the third time to bring Mamdani on record whether he condemned the controversial slogan. “Why not just condemn it?” Velkar asked.

“My concern is to start walking on the language line and clarify which language I believe, which is acceptable or impregnable. Takes me to a place like the President who is trying to do many types of things, putting people in jail to write an up-ed in jail, put them in jail for protest,” Mamdani responded. “Finally, it is not the language I use, this is the language that I understand that there are concerns about it, and what I will do will showcase my vision for this city through his words and my actions.”
